i've definitely heard it from non-bitcoiners, but I also haven't put as much effort into onboarding them. I kinda assume that learning about bitcoin in order to use SN is going to be too much of an ask.

I think using a custodial wallet is a good first step, and it's dead easy. I even got a few people to make one and sent them some sats, but they never ended up joining SN because you gotta pay! I barely know any other Bitcoiners in person.

i wonder if the prevalence of slop posting will change the aversion to paying. probably not, but a guy can hope.
