when stacker.news over Nostr?
reply
I cannot help asking myself whether this is out of altruism or repentance? šŸ¤”
reply
Probably a bit of both.
I think Jack is truly committed to a make an open social media platform.
reply
"altruism" ... also know as "a load of bullshit" or I don't want to tell you my agenda
reply
Repentance I guess. Which is good, because it pays better.
reply
Nostr has a really good grassroots vibe going on, similar to the early days of bitcoin.
It would be a shame to ruin that with a high profile sponsor with a known record of mismanagement.
reply
Jack is not managing anything in nostr; he already gave the money to Fiatjaf, who is then going to 'drive' things from it. Its totally in his control now. And fiatjaf has contributed well for 2 yrs now to nostr.
reply
Yeah I saw how it played out and I'm happy with it.
I wrote that comment before the funding and planning was carried out and was just afraid of any potential strings attached.
reply
Yes, I've heard that nothing ruins a project faster than getting a boat load of funding too early in it's lifecycle.
reply
I just can't imagine if Bitcoin would be the same if it had a 200k USD seed grant

There is no such thing as "Bad publicity", there is only publicity

Is there a verifiable option for sending sats to this project ?
reply
Send more than jack

Ping @fiatjaf on Telegram

You can declare bounties, or donate to devs. There is no actual central project where to send it. Though you can always send to fiatjaf if you want, though he is also just one of the contributors.
reply
It's not a really a project in that way. It's an open protocol with many different people involved that have their own softwares, ideas and goals.
Fiatjaf is setting up bounties with the money donated by Jack. So you could talk to him if you to add more money to that.

As more of a normie I like the sound of nostr. But I think much like bitcoin wallets it needs someone to come up with a normie friendly client/UX that makes it intuitive to operate.

Damus and Anigna are quite nice and friendly!

Interesting. Just had a play around. Don't mind the look of it. A good start at least.
