Calling all Bitcoin builders...

If you're building something, no matter how big or small, leave a comment below to let the SN community know what you're working on. If you want feedback or help from other users, feel free to share that too.

If you missed last week's thread, here are the updates SN users shared from all their latest work projects.

New Zeus release is dropping next week with

Lightning Node Connect
New default home screen
BIP21/Unified QRs
BTCPay Lnbank support

and a bunch more. Here's the latest beta if you want to help us test: https://github.com/ZeusLN/zeus/releases/tag/v0.7.0-beta2

reply

Nice! FDroid release too?

reply

yeah baby. we've moved over to our own self-hosted F-Droid repo over at https://zeusln.app/download

Not against putting it on the main F-Droid store, but it's been tricky to maintain with all our dependencies. Plus we have reproducible Android builds now with Docker

  • Using Slashtags as an oracle with an outside smart contract project
  • Creating a Slashtags runtime so any app can use it without RN
  • Getting LDK to route better in Bitkit

etc, etc, etc

reply

First thing: make Bitkit usable. After that we can talk about slashtags...

As a Bitcoin Content creator I create video tutorials for my Youtube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/@criptopanas), the video for this week is about the different options for moving SATS from Lightning Network to On Chain or from On Chain to LN. The options (so far) are:

  • Fixed Float
  • Blue Wallet
  • Coinos.io
  • Deezy.io

P.S.: If you know any other method, I'd love to know about it. Gracias!

reply

Boltz is another method worth considering

reply

Can't most LN wallets send to an on chain address?

Which way is cheapest? That's what I want to know.

reply

No. For example, in Blue Wallet you can move SATS from On Chain to LN but no from LN to On Chain.

To know the cheapest method you will have to watch my video ;) coming out tomorrow.

reply

phoenix wallet

reply

This works but it is more expensive to do it this way than to use some other method

I want to package CLN alongside Bitcoin Core inside a GUI application to make this setup easier to test/run on MacOS. Imo today it requires too many steps.

reply

Oh please announce it here when you're done! I've been wanting to setup a node on my laptop but don't want to spend a whole day doing it.

heterogeneous mutlisig constructions! Now that we have taproot, there are some really cool ways to encumber coins

Working on building the thing we need most right now: Bitcoin education in local communities. Me and some friends are trying to start a Bitcoin club at a local high school. We haven't yet decided how to structure each meeting, so that's the wip level its at.

One idea I'd like to bounce off you guys is chosing a club member, either randomly or by vote, to present on and lead a discussion about something Bitcoin related they chose to research the previous week. The idea is that this would help lead people more naturally down the rabbit hole.

Once enough people join we may get to work on persuading some local businesses to accept bitcoin, but we'll see what happens. I'm excited to see what can be done with it though.

Thank you so much, that's a pretty awesome slideshow. I might adapt it a bit, but that should be very useful, thank you.

love the initiative, clubs are def the way to go!

couple of things to remember when starting local building:

  1. have your core members and double down on them always
  2. have fun always first!
  3. lead by example

Haha, you sound like me. Care to share your PR so I can see if I understand anything? :)

serial procrastinators will rule the world!

here's the PR: https://github.com/lightningdevkit/rust-lightning/pull/1919

its just a really simple change that limits the number of route hints added to an invoice. i'm new to Bitcoin/Lightning development and oss contribution in general so starting off very small

Trying to build apps for EmbassyOS. I’m a total pleb. Inspired by all the builders I see and want to contribute any way I can.

I call it PlebTools. Small utilities you can run on your node. Do your own blockchain analysis, read OP_RETURN data, calculate miner break-even price, print templates for multisig backup, format a curl command for bitcoind… ya know, stuff.

Taking forever as I teach myself to code. Doing this on the side. Frustrated lately by it but not giving up.

Lots of great builders here.

I'm not building any tech stuff. Just trying to orangepill as many I can. Latest achievement was to convince my friends to self custody.

Also I'm on process to orangepill one small political party.
