Tell us in the comments how many speeding tickets you've gotten and how much you've paid the government for them.

Speeding ticket fines vary dramatically across the U.S., with this map showing the minimum costs for going 10 mph over the speed limit across all 50 states.
The data for this visualization comes from FinanceBuzz, with the costs including both the fine and standard court fees in the state as of 2024.
Pulled over 4 times for it but only 1 ticket, the first one, ~190 sounds about right

That's a super lucky break that you only got one ticket. I've only gotten one myself, a speed camera on the freeway. I was doing 10 kph over the limit (120) and got hit with a €60 fine.

I just realized that I got slower and slower in my speeding:
80mph in a 65 70mph in a 55 65mph in a 45 45mph in a 30

In Ontario you pay anywhere from $45 to $343 depending how much over the speed limit you were going. If you are going 50km over the speed limit it is more and there are other penalties like a 30 day license suspension. Last ticket I got was from a speed camera. I think it was around $180 but I contested it and they knocked it down to $70.

Sounds like it's pretty much the same as in Portugal. The only difference is I don't think you can contested speeding tickets here. So what was your argument for fighting it?
reply
My argument is they don't want to waste time and money to take me to trial over a speeding ticket so they will resolve with a lower fee.
