Yeah, you can run a private relay and back up everything. It's a bit of a project. Some clients even make it fairly easy to back everything up, but then you have to keep track of the json files, I think, and remember to do it regularly.

I read somewhere that it backs up all your instances. Two years ago I discovered the hard way that just having your nsec doesn't preserve your follower list or notes.

When I looked today, though, the description doesn't mention backups.
