An incredibly unfortunate situation - a family’s home in my dad’s neighborhood was struck by lightning not too long ago. Completely destroyed. Nothing left to salvage.

I passed by it today and happened to have my camera with me. The family obviously isn’t living there anymore, and the front door was slightly ajar. I pushed it open, curious to see inside. The first thing that caught my eye was this one detail - a sign still hanging on the wall that read “Simply Blessed.”

Ironic, but also deeply sad.

Surely they are simply blessed as they could have been struck along with the house.

That's what I took from it.

reply

Could you imagine being in the house? That would be insane.

reply

That’s truly heartbreaking. It's hard to imagine the weight of such loss. Not just the house itself, but all the memories and moments that were once held inside those walls. And yet, that sign still hanging there… “Simply Blessed”. In a strange way, it feels like a quiet reminder that even in tragedy, life can still carry meaning, even if it’s hard to see at the moment.

reply

Exactly. Well said.

wow! this looks so bad. what about a home insurance? was the lightning struck not covered?

reply

Not too sure. I'm sure they're struggling with that now as they have been gone for a few days now with no improvement or clean up

Jesus Christ! I hope they have a good home insurance!

reply

Likewise.

Count your blessings...

I do everyday myself

That's pretty wild. Do they not ground houses there?

reply

Hmm, I'm not too sure

That hit me. Tragic and haunting… that Simply Blessed sign makes it even more powerful.
