It's hard watching someone get outdated career advice. Unless you're employed by a government, a government-contracted entity, or some highly regulated industry, there is no uninterruptible "career." There are only valuable skills, experiences, relationships, and occasionally credentialism now.
"I see on your resume you left a job shortly after starting to start a harder job where you gained more skills and experience that make you more qualified for the job I'm interviewing you for ... unfortunately, we don't hire people based on whether they do their job well as much as we look for a predictable, middling career history." lol
reply
It's because they want slaves, not skilled contractors.

Kinda great, actually. I've turned my room into a small maker-room, and have been working on a backpack like a maniac. I also enlisted on a new study - which I'm actually kinda pumped for - which will start in september, and hope to have a small side hustle going once I've got my backpack + accessories up-and-running.

I want to see the backpack. I bought a one-off 10L backpack ~8 years ago on Etsy and it's still going strong. I think it'll last forever, but occasionally I want something bigger when I'm traveling (I usually end up having to bring a duffel bag).

Hm, maybe it'll lend itself as part of a bigger "Comeback-Post"...
It'll be a travel / EDC-focused, minimalistic backpack with around 15 - 20 litres of volume, and it'll feature a clamshell opening for easy access all-around. Inside there's a generous amount of velcro + attachment points for elastic rope, which can be used to organize the inside with packing cubes or what not, or simply to compress whatever you put inside with the elastic ropes.
The backpack will also include openings on the sides to enable the use of water bladders, and features grab-handles on top, sides and front.
The back will consist of a layer of 8 mm 3D mesh with a layer of 3 mm 3D Cool Max-Mesh on top (which helps minimize the growth of odors / bacteria thanks to the silver ions which are weaved-in).
I'm pretty fuckin' pumped to have this thing become a reality, as it's been living rent-free in my head for the past three months... 🌝

My course is actually pretty much 50 / 50 in terms of sexes, let's hope for the best.
Do you recommend any mindset books? 🧐

When you live in a country where banks are abusive, the local currency is garbage, and governments are corrupt, it's impossible to create wealth. The only way to survive is to work from dawn to dusk and spend it before it's taken away by inflation, the government, or devalued. That's why hoarding without thinking about Bitcoin is the future.

This is fun. If I were immortal, I'd spend more of my time doing fundumb stuff like this.

Did a notification click never link you to an item so far?
I noticed it works for me when I opened the PWA recently. Wonder if that's also the case for you? I am on iOS 18 though.

Here is your reminder

In this case, I had the PWA closed completely. Clicking a push notification opened the app but didn’t take me to the item. Leaving the app open and launching another notification did take me to the item

For me, it doesn’t work when I have to unlock the phone after I clicked a notification. It then also continues to not work. When I close the PWA and then click a notification, it works again.

Happiness Journal 26/7/25
Today, I received a message from my Principal at my new working place. It conveyed well wishes that I have been settling in well, as well as an invitation to join the induction programme next Friday.
Facebook Memories subsequently reminded me that this day 16 years ago coincidentally marked my first month at Singapore Polytechnic. I read my Facebook Note written back then; it seems that I could still relate to that bright-eyed and idealistic young man. We are one and the same in spite of life’s changes. We remain steadfastly committed to meeting new people (outside the confines of our previous workplaces) and embracing new experiences.
In recent years, I have sometimes wondered what life would have been like if I had remained tethered to an organisation and rose up the ranks to become a Key Personnel. That Facebook Note was a succinct reminder of the things I valued (and still value) more than career progression.
