Thought of the day:
- when listening to podcasts we are generally calling it "streaming sats" to podcasters, because it's a continuous stream of money, so that makes sense.
- on SN the button calls it a "tip", which works, but the word imho doesn't make a justice to the sudden change of state of giving someone the value for their content. Also it's a bit overloaded with the "tipping in restaurant" situations.
- so I thought about using "to flick" someone sats. "I just flicked you some sats", "I'm always flicking sats to good creators"...
- the definition says "to flick" is "propel (something) with a sudden sharp movement, especially of the fingers."
I'm not suggesting we do the change in the UI, because to newcomers it's just more easy to call it "tip", but maybe it's something that insiders (instackers?) would use... :)
YouTube pockets 30 percent of tips through its “applause” function, as does Twitch for its “cheer” function;

This is awesome. I didn't know about these features. Their take is kind of crazy though.

The only place it shows Tip is when you click the lightning symbol, and Tip is the label on the submit button, right?
Or is that term used elsewhere as well? (Other than the two "How do I tip?" and "How do I reset my default tip?" questions in the FAQ)?

Flick makes me think of
- Flick the bean
- Flick a booger
Maybe it’s just me though 😂. I agree tip is kind of weird and lame.

How about "fling" instead?

Or "sling", haha.
Sling some sats if you appreciate their effort.
