Wasn't originally going to post a novella-length bearish screed, but A) it's well-written (because Ed always is), B) I think reading critics/opposing voices is always important, and C) this post reminded me of it. I won't pull-quote, because there's simply too much and no quote would do it justice, but it's worth the time investment, doubly so if you're playing markets and investing any of these companies.
This is egregiously fucking stupid.
That's a good TLDR! This is why on my last weekly post I put all the Big Tech stuff at the bottom, because it's all fluff! I have also not found a real world use case that needs a model larger than my old (2021 M1 model) macbook can handle. And those are shitty models. Imagine a couple years of optimization and you run the stuff you need with less than 4GB ram. Earn moneys how?
PS:
I also dislike the fact that I, and others like me, are held to a remarkably different standard to those who paint themselves as "optimists," which typically means "people that agree with what the market wishes were true."
Eh? Eff the market.
