This tiny gadget negotiates with the USB C power supply a voltage depending on the switch positions. Costs ~1€ and supports up to 100W power. Pretty cool alternative to regular power supplies.

what multimeter is that?
TACKLIFE CM04. There are a lot of similar ones from other brands. Pretty cheap and has a clamp for measuring current without cutting wires.
Wouldn't adjustable power supply cost something similar?
Not at all, at least 10x. This way you can just repurpose any of the many USB C chargers laying around in your house.
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805451783517.html shows price $0.99 for me, but maybe that's some initial offer.
Interesting...
Why would you do this? Is it just to tinker with?
For now yes. But if a 12V power supply breaks (router, switches, ...) this would do the trick until a new one arrives.
Also I have some led light strips that run on 9V and had to buy an specific adapter for those.
I could also power the BitAxe (5V ~20W) or the NerdQAxe++ (12V, ~80W) with it.
Happy to leave it laying around until it's needed urgently :-)
This is pretty cool like a tiny power negotiator 😄 For just €1 and up to 100W support its a solid pick for DIY folks or anyone who likes tweaking their setup. Definitely a handy little tool!
