Hello, Bitcoin community.
I come from the retail world and I’m not a programmer (please don't judge my code harshly haha 😅). I was a non-technical founder of another crypto-based startup, and when I shifted to working with local businesses, I realized that many solutions for small merchants aren’t great: they tend to be expensive, unintuitive, and time-consuming. Plus, there’s almost no automation that truly saves time.
That’s why I decided to start an open-source point of sale (POS) with these core ideas:
  • Functional POS (still in its early stages, but already visible and usable).
  • One-click smart inventory (OCR for automated inventory management, also in its early stages).
  • Modular structure: use only what you need (the idea is to let each business easily adapt the modules).
  • BTC/Lightning support (not yet coded, but planned).

Current Status

  • Can be cloned, installed, and run locally with a temporary database.
  • The OCR is halfway done in a separate repo, awaiting integration.
  • No payment gateway yet (only cash option for now).
  • The roadmap and basic issues are public, but the repo still needs organization, tests, and migration to a proper database.

What I Need Right Now

  • Fresh eyes to review the project structure and share feedback.
  • Simple pull requests: seed scripts, initial tests, folder cleanup.
  • Ideas on architecture before the project scales up.
As I mentioned, I’m not a developer, but I want to push this project forward. With the help of those of you with a more technical perspective, I know we can make progress.
So, if you’re a veteran or junior developer and like the idea of being part of something just getting started, this project might interest you. And if you know someone who might be interested, I’d greatly appreciate it if you share this info.
My ultimate goal is to create a free and open tool for small entrepreneurs (whether or not they’re part of the Bitcoin community) to help them grow and simplify their business operations.

If you feel like reviewing or leaving suggestions, feel free to drop by anytime. Any feedback is helpful at this early stage.
Thanks for reading!

Great work. Keep it simple, focus on Digital products and enable media upload! There's a huge gap on this #1047216

Thank you very much, @AGORA, for the advice and the information you shared with me. It helped me see some important points to keep in mind. I’ll be sharing more updates in the coming weeks, and if you can, it’d be great if you join the Discord group so you can get the next update.

Next time use audio and talk while telling us about the app. 👌

Thanks for the feedback, @Car. You’re right — I should’ve included audio 😅. This was just the first video, so there will be more updates. Next time, I’ll make a clearer, better-explained video.
As for the payment gateway, I haven’t added it yet since the project is still in early development. The idea is to share progress with the community and keep improving (I’ll check out Zaprite, NWC, and BTC Pay).
If you want to stay updated, join the Discord (it’s just starting, but this is a long-term project).
The project is called ZatoBox: “Zato” for Satoshi and “Box” as in The Satoshi Box. Inside this box, there will be modules that any business can use easily, with no advanced tech knowledge — just register your wallet, add your products, and start selling!

Nice, you’re already 50% better than most builders already.

Sounds good.
