Fair enough. They never intended those "idyllic" parts.
I do think many of them actually believed they could improve society, in some sense, through central planning, though.

I guess that I am cynical enough to believe they never thought that. What they did think was they could improve their standing vis-a-vis wealth by social redistribution to their own pockets, though. They started as thieves and murderers and that is what they kept on doing.

Is there anything that is not cynical about any communist implementation? Sharing amongst everyone equally? No, that has never happened and never will happen in a communist situation.
