This definitely happens. On a very surface level, my wife and I have become Mom and Dad to such an extent that we sometimes refer to each other by those titles. Deeper, I haven't experienced anything that comes close to changing personality and worldview and priorities as does parenting. It really does make you into a different person.
This is gonna make me sound petty, but up to last year, I took my wife’s calling me Papa as a micro-aggression. Like my soul would flinch. I didn’t want to just be known as a daddy.
I think a positive change is that I have been very proactive in decluttering my belongings these days. I find that just having less things to cloud my senses indirectly gives me more energy for parenting (and to deal with my children’s mess haha)
