pull down to refresh

We are exactly two weeks away from the MLB Trade Deadline and things are starting to take shape. A couple weeks ago it looked like there would be a lot of buyers and very few sellers and while I still think many teams still think they are in it, we can probably add a few more to the seller category or at least consider them strategic sellers (selling expiring contracts for this year without impacting long term contention).
Buyers (and what they are likely shopping for)
Los Angeles Dodgers- Relief Pitching, Starting Pitching Detroit Tigers- Relief Pitching, Infield New York Yankees- 3B, Starting Pitching, Relief Pitching Philadelphia Phillies- Relief Pitching, Outfield Chicago Cubs- 3B, Starting Pitching, Relief Pitching New York Mets- Relief Pitching, CF Toronto Blue Jays- Starting Pitching, Relief Pitching Houston Astros- Starting Pitching
Likely Buyers (and what they are likely shopping for)
Milwaukee Brewers- 3B, Outfield Seattle Mariners- Infield, Relief Pitching Boston Red Sox- Starting Pitching, 1B, Relief Pitching San Diego Padres- Outfield, Catcher, Starting Pitching San Francisco Giants- Infield, Catcher St Louis Cardinals- Starting Pitching, Outfield
Sellers (and what they have to offer)
Colorado Rockies- Infield, Starting Pitching, Relief Pitching Pittsburgh Pirates- Starting Pitching, Relief Pitching, Infield, Outfield Miami Marlins- Starting Pitching, Relief Pitching, Outfield Washington Nationals- Infield, Starting Pitching, Relief Pitching Chicago White Sox- Outfield, Relief Pitching Oakland A's- Starting Pitching, Relief Pitching
Likely Sellers (and what they have to offer)
Los Angeles Angels- Outfield, Starting Pitching, Relief Pitching Cincinnati Reds- Outfield, Relief Pitching, Starting Pitching Baltimore Orioles- Relief Pitching Infield, Outfield
Unknowns (could both buy and sell)
Tampa Bay Rays- always looking to move expiring contracts for young talent Arizona DBacks- have a lot of good pieces to sell if they go that route Atlanta Braves- won't mess with the core but could buy controllable and sell expiring along the edges Minnesota Twins- they have some pitching contenders would love but will they sell? Cleveland Guardians- see Twins Kansas City Royals- see Guardians and Twins
The most interesting unknowns to watch will be what the Diamondbacks decide to do and if they trade guys like Gallen, Kelly and Suarez (those are pretty big chips) and what will happen with the middling teams in the AL central that are hanging around the wild card hunt but aren't very good. A lot of nice arms could be available. Contenders were would love to get their hands on Classe, Duran, Ryan, Jax, etc.
Looking forward to seeing how it all shakes out.
Sats for all, GR
