About a month ago, I bought one of those sleep blindfolds, the ones that completely cover your eyes and block out the light. It was an impulse buy, I admit. I'd been thinking about buying one for a while, and I saw them, and I couldn't resist, hahaha. I've always been a bit skeptical about these things, but I decided to give it a try; after all, it's not expensive.

The first night was... weird. The band was a little tight, and I had a hard time finding a comfortable position. I ended up taking it off in the middle of the night. But I persisted, and after a few days, my body was used to it.

And to my surprise: it worked.
I noticed a real change in the quality of my sleep. I wake up less often during the night, and in the morning I feel more deeply rested. Even on days when I sleep less, I wake up with more energy.

It's not magic, of course. It won't solve chronic insomnia or replace healthy sleep habits. But it helps a lot, especially if you live in a place where street light shines in (like me, my apartment faces the street and the light from the condo's entrance almost shines in my bedroom window) or if you share a room and can't control what's going on around you.

Some pros:

  • It blocks out almost all light, which helps induce melatonin naturally.
  • Ideal for quick naps during the day.
  • It helps me create a "closing routine": once I put it on, my brain already associates it with the fact that it's time to rest.

Cons:

  • The first week can be uncomfortable until it molds to your face.
  • Some bands are too tight or get too hot.
  • If you're very restless while sleeping, it may move or fall off.

In short, it's a small investment worth trying if you're looking to improve the quality of your sleep. Sometimes, the rest we're looking for doesn't require a complex solution.

Has anyone else here tried sleeping with an eye mask? Good or bad experiences?

Can it stop kids and dogs from kicking you all night? I think that accounts for 90% of my sleep troubles.

The other day I saw a funny video on YouTube of someone who placed a horn at the entrance of his house with the sound of gunshots, for some people who sat in front of his house at night......in a few seconds, everyone ran away, even the dogs....hahahahaha

I've been using a sleep mask for about a decade. They are an improvement for sure. Nothing beats a cold, dark, and quiet room though.

I bought it in a physical store; I saw it by chance and bought it.

But you can search online for something like:
Sleeping Masks, Blackout Eye Masks, Comfortable Sleep Travel Mask

Or you can take this image and open it through the Google or Amazon image search engine.

This is the link to Amazon here in Brazil.
