I had almost given up seeking to get retailers in my neck of the woods to adopt. It is a very depressing situation where you want to use BTC to buy things but there F.A. outlets who accept.
I have tried a few time for different retailers who I thought might consider it but zero success until today. One area I focused on was my green coffee beans supplier who is really good and I have bought from for many years- I suggested he could consider accepting Bitcoin and he was said he would think about it but nothing more happened. I mentioned it once more but then still no progress. So my green beans supply is running low and I thought how can I approach this?
I like the current soon to be ex coffee supplier, his product and shipping has always been good, but loyalty only goes so far if there is another supplier who will accept BTC payments.
I went onto New Zealands online marketplace similar I think, to Ebay in the US, here its called 'Trademe' which dominates online sales - it is where I had originally found my current (soon to be previous) supplier. On Trademe I looked up all the green coffee beans suppliers and asked them all if they would consider accepting BTC for regular buyers (except my current/soon to be ex supplier who Ive already asked twice) and soon got a response from one saying he is willing to accept Bitcoin.
I completed a purchase of a small quantity of green beans from him via the website platform and paid in fiat and then in private correspondence with him furthered the dialogue about accepting Bitcoin- he seems genuine and even said he had written a paper on the tax implications of Bitcoin so he knows more than most about the issues. Now waiting with some excitement to see if he follows through- I have suggested an exchange here in NZ who specialize in enabling merchants to accept BTC payments- lightningpay.nz so hopefully by the time I have used the first shipment up I can buy the next one with sats!
So my suggestion to anyone wanting to try this is as above- approach online retailers via Ebay or whatever platform about whether they might consider sats as payments and follow up from there.
If retailers start to lose old regular customers through failure to accept BTC, they may just wake up and smell the coffee!
Lets try and use our market spending power and bring on adoption from the grassroots up.

This is really inspiring. I often feel like I'm being too pushy or impolite when I ask about accepting bitcoin, bit your idea here for targeting primarily inline retailers is excellent. I'm gonna see what I can do.

I will definitely choose a merchant accepting Bitcoin over one who doesn't

Every thing seems regular however accepting BTC LN could be great choice due to low fees involved.
