Hello Stackers!
Since over a year now, we have been working on building up the AGORA – a Bitcoin-only, peer-to-peer marketplace that live in the realms of Stacker.news. We inherit the idea from @mo and since then, with @AG we have been taking care of growing it, ensuring and structuring the various functionalities to be available for those merchants and private sellers and buyers that aim to trade freely, without intermediaries, fees, and friction.
πŸ“£You can experience it here: https://stacker.news/~AGORA
πŸ“™ All the Tutorials, Guidelines, Tips & Tricks here: https://stacker.news/items/942038

What's possible now:

The main idea was to use existing posting functionalities to advertise and share listings and classifieds posts, ideally introducing the idea of Ad-posts type in the stacker.news platform. I cannot negate, that the other online marketplace have been inspiring us, providing with solid references to grow the idea with.
Specifically for the AGORA, here are the current list of available posts we have structured, the user simply need to add a [TAG] in the that allows the community to identify the type of ad shared:

What we are working on:

We realize this is still an early stage idea, we miss a lot of functionalities SN is not able to offer, and we never know it will. The whole idea could have the potential to fail, depending on how we structure and maintain it. But again, other marketplace have demonstrated that this idea could live in other forum too, so we will continue working to increase our trust within the community, and ensure stackers can trade safely and anonymously with Bitcoin, P2P, as it supposed to be!
Future improvements:
  • Ensure and educate users to communicate anonymously, ideally using nostr protocol messages clients or other encrypted messaging systems (Until SN will provide an internal DM system I read somewhere is in the making(?)).
  • Provide an optional on-request escrow service that can help build trust and safeguard buyers and sellers when required. we have few toys to play with, what would be your preferred?
    • Lately @supertestnet gifted another of its supersimple creations... the Celebrity Escrow!
    • Crow is another one I mentioned earlier #971914...
    • And some historic pieces of software that sill running like Coinbin
  • Last, but not least important, Promotion and creating a presence for the AGORA in other social media and platforms, helping people anywhere to discover and learn more about bitcoin, privacy and how to trade P2P. We recently fail multiple times on r/ unbelievably censored platforms! However, we are live in the LightningNetwork+, and WIP n KYCnot.me and more to come soon.
What else are we missing? Will be great to hear your opinion. And if there's any marketplace moderator reading this, your feedback and insights would be much appreciated and valuable.

I am sure that IF SN team will add a SN account as the escrow arbiter, Agora Marketplace will be more used among stackers. Also many Agora's users will have to use an "alt account" when is about to trade with others. It is necessary in order to preserve some privacy.
But for me, SN Agora Marketplace is a great idea. A marketplace like this need time to start and you are doing great work to promote it and maintain it.

Thakds fr your feedback and suggestions. I totally agree, privacy need to be preserved, but we can't (and we will not) enforce it. We don't care who you are or if stackers want to stay anonymous, the escrow service work independently and is not tied with SN anyway.
We are planning to use nostr group chat to facilitate conversations with all 3 parties (including us). Stackers can create a new npub for each trade if they wish
No way we can ask that to SN. For now we gonna provide the escrow service ourselves, it will be optional and available on request upon 1% fee prepayments.
We are already playing with the infrastructure we have these two working:

Testing for now, we select one platform to be the reference for escrows in the future, or maybe offer different options, via nostr, lightning and onchain. We'll see what's possible!

This is a game changer! I'm from the Philippines πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ and a lot of us want to trade P2P with sats but don’t have access to good local Bitcoin marketplaces.
I really like the idea of tagging posts as [BUY], [SELL], or [SWAP] β€” very straightforward. Just a suggestion: Maybe we could have a dedicated thread for Asia/Pacific region to make local trades easier?
Also, would love to help promote AGORA on Twitter or Nostr. This could really empower Bitcoiners in emerging markets.
Keep building! ⚑ PS: I might try posting a [BUY] ad this week to test it out.

I'm glad you find it useful and easy to use. A dedicated subthread or subterritory would be great. I think SN team is working on it, but also on enabling content translations.
For now I'd probably suggest to post in your local language, and most importantly share the link within your local community and online networks so it could also help SN be adopted and used more around you and in the Philippines in general.
If you decide to promote the ~AGORA specifically tag us both on nostr and twitter. I'll make sure your efforts are rewarded 🧑
