Can't advise on your specific query, but some general advise from a more mechanical perspective:
Stress/intrusive thoughts etc are a survival instinct from your nervous system, a call to action. This means there is something you know you should be doing or need to be controlling, but are abdicating for subconscious reasons. The stress/thoughts come from a feeling of lacking control, a dissonance.
Identifying what exactly that is of course is the tricky part since fear or dread masks it.
Any sounding board might be adequate since the solution is self-contained within you already, don't get analysis paralysis on who you should talk it out with. Just talk. Push, don't expect someone to pull.
