This has a minor spoiler but you can read so don't complain.
In the final 2 episodes (I think) some of the characters had me laughing as they said "Its democratic!" as a rational for killing each other. The writers really leaned into this several times. It had me chuckling. I'd love to see more of this absurdity demonstrated in cultural content.
I'm not gonna write a review of the show but IMO its one of the most overrated things I've ever watched. I'm not saying it is terrible. There are terrible parts of it but for the amount of views and raving it gets its just over-rated.
In this final season the worst part was the non-Korean actors. Now the voice actors that do the voice over in the English audio are terrible. Its unwatchable so we watch the Korean version with subtitles. But in that version there are some English speaking characters and they are laughably bad.
The only other thing I will say is that there has to be a US version of this. If you have seen the last scene you will know why I'm saying this. I'm not looking forward to it.
The VIPs are definitely terrible and they had so much screen time in season 3. I enjoyed all the seasons, but definitely not the best TV out there. I just kept watching to see what the next game would be 😅

I watched season 1, but didn't watch 2 or 3 because I couldn't imagine how they'd keep the story going beyond pure shock value. Do you think season 2 is worth watching?
reply
One of my sons thinks it is worth watching. Honestly, I don't think so. YMMV.
You hit on what my wife and I were just talking about. Shock value. The gore. It does nothing for me. I have never been either offended or entertained by gore. I don't like horror movies. I don't mean I don't approve. I mean they are boring to me.
I think the shock value is part of the appeal to this show as well as the novelty of eastern culture that Americans seem to have. I get it. The eastern world's culture is foreign to westerners (Asian cultures specifically) and I think that's a huge factor in this show's success.
I have a fascination with history more than current culture so this type of appeal is largely lost on me because so much of western culture as affected these cultures today. And mostly in bad ways, not the positives of western culture. My opinion of course. I admire many things about eastern culture. But not all.
