LLM models invite skepticism because of hallucinations and privacy concerns, but when used judiciously, they do have the ability to make our lives easier.
My students are having some problems recalling the key functions of pertinent plant parts. They attribute a particular function to the roots instead of the stem, among other errors. So, I literally planted one prompt into ChatGPT:
Design a simple poster that contains
leaves (make food)
stem (transport food and water)
roots (take in water)
Include pictures of each plant part
Within minutes, I received this:
I feel empowered to make a difference in the lives of my students (and my son)! (Because I printed out one colored copy for him and laminated it.)

as a local speech-to-text engine because anyone that has checked YouTube captions knows how annoying the mistakes can be. Turned out its better than whatever goog uses for yt but of course slower - probably a tradeoff they made to minimize cost.
