Well the article notes that the Spurs and NBA agreed to this… I guess cause it was an interim tag? But even then if there is no other head coach then….

I’m guessing there’s some official process that the Spurs chose not to follow for situations like this.

I'm glad they “fixed” it but whole thing just seems kinda odd to me but again not the biggest basketball follower so lol

I am a little surprised that it was not automatic when something like this happens.... It would be different if he missed a few games or if there was some sort of plan but that was never the case. Plus missing 77 games is most of the season and say the coach sucked and went 10 - 67 Pop didnt coach the team to that so why should he get hit by that crappy record.
