Things have evolved since the last time I taught Science. What the hell is this clip-on microscope? 🔬
I didn’t have time to introduce myself to the lab assistant before my class, so I just brought construction paper and constructed in front of eager minds a model of the plant transport system. I even thoughtfully used blue and green construction paper to denote water-carrying and food-carrying tubes respectively. Two students mentioned that their favourite fruit is mangoes, so I used yellow construction paper to represent them.
I tried to show them how fruits get bigger and sweeter when the food-carrying tubes are removed from the stem. They will probably forget all this by tomorrow.
Which explains why I marched to the Sci lab during my free period and borrowed the legendary clip-on microscope. Spent 15-20 minutes fiddling around with it, trying to figure out how to use it. Finally! Success!
Okay, I’m not convinced that the microscope slides are superior to my rudimentary model, but I might just demonstrate it in front of my students to let them know of the existence of such a tool.
Nevertheless, good to end today by learning something new!
