After humble beginnings, the semi-long-haired Pyrenean Shepherd Dog was virtually unknown in official dog circles until the early 20th century.
The type of these dogs can vary considerably from valley to valley, and while body size and coat can vary greatly, the character and behavior are the same. The first standard was published between 1921 and 1925, and has changed little since then.

All pyreneans are great human mates. I definitely recommend one of you are in the +1500 elevations. They are more friendly than Himalyan Mastiffs.
