This was a startling statement to me. If AI-produced works muddy the use of fonts -- to where every piece of text is it's own font -- I wonder how long alphabets will last?
If a font is a standard way of composing letters, maybe letters can be thought of as the standard way of expressing sounds. In that sense an alphabet is a font for sounds. Some people use Arabic font, some people use French font. (Ideograms like Kanji complicate this).
I'm not sure I can imagine what this world would be like or how humans would write in such a world, but I do take fonts for granted.
But we could draw imagined new letters even before AI ;)
