This seems ridiculous to me. Even if they want to treat it like other medical products, a large portion of American tourism to Thailand is medical in nature.

That’s because their medical costs are so much lower and, I thought, treatments were easier to obtain. They should be leaning into affordability and availability, rather than erecting barriers.

I agre. People from India go to enjoy there. They say it's more affordable than going to Goa, which is in India.
I think they will drop it once they see even a slight impact on their tourism.
