Senior White House official says Israel and Iran have agreed to ceasefire
  • Both Israel and Iran have agreed to the ceasefire, a senior administration official is telling CBS, the BBC's US news partner.
  • Trump communicated directly with PM Benjamin Netanyahu, with Israel agreeing to the truce as long as they are not further attacked by Iran, CBS reports.
  • Senior Iranian officials have also confirmed Tehran has agreed to the ceasefire, according to CBS.
  • The ceasefire came about after US vice president JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff communicated with the Iranians, through both direct and indirect channels, the senior administration official says.
I hope it goes better than Israel's other ceasefires.

I think it'll go better considering both US and Israel both have successfully weaken Iranian regime considerably. And don't be surprised if we get to see a new political setup in Iran very soon. I don't believe that this ceasefire has got approval from Khammeini.

Iran's not weaker than Gaza or Lebanon and those ceasefires never last.

TBH Israel has abided by them. Look at 2008 brokered by Egypt.... Hamas and Islamic Jihad would stop but then as soon as Israel troops left they violated it.
Gaza is something that Israel has tried to give back to Egypt that they do not want. It is clear to everyone that Hamas cannot be in control or armed within the Strip. They have been at the forefront of launching attacks against Israel and to really hammer it home look at what Egypt has done. They build a huge ass wall and help Israel with the sea blockade. They know Gaza is an issue with Hamas and no one wants to deal with it.
