Has anyone seen an analysis on how much fake (paper) bitcoin is in the market?
Considering there are still more than 2 million coins left on exchanges and the CBOE futures contracts settle in dollars not bitcoin the numbers could be very significant.

I'd definitely be interested in seeing an analysis like this too. Any amount is too high, but its I agree its probably significant. We definitely need to keep reiterating that people need to own their keys!

I suspect it's not possible to get accurate info on this. Mt. Gox inadvertantly wound up trading paper BTC due to a bug that someone exploited. FTX intentially traded ~100% paper BTC and told nobody about it.
We probably won't know how much paper BTC there is until after most exchanges are bankrupt.
