The Tennessee Valley Authority brought more than power to the South. It erased towns, moved rivers, and buried history behind the concrete walls of dams. What’s stirring now are the ghosts of that grid.

The Tennessee Valley Authority displaced over 100,000 people to dam the rivers. Entire communities disappeared under water. Floodplains swallowed homes while the government called it progress. Locals knew better yet, here we are with a massive power grid of undeniable history and structure.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory rose out of that same grid—built to enrich uranium for the Manhattan Project. Tennessee became a major power consumer and the battery that fed the bomb. Senator Hagerty wants to bring nuclear back in a big way, but not for weapons; for Bitcoin mining and AI workloads. He’s not subtle about it either. He names TVA directly. He names Oak Ridge National Laboratory directly.

Bitcoin miners love the mining reward subsidy but they NEED baseload. TVA already knows how to deliver that and so does Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Nuclear is stable, dense, and already endemic to the state of Tennessee. It’s about waking something old. Stirring almost century old ghosts. The infrastructure is already there. The incentives are just different now.

The ghosts of the grid are real. This time, when it lights up, they won’t whisper or moan or say "boo". They’ll scream with new loads, new logic, and a new purpose. Bitcoin will become a Tennessee legacy in more ways than one and write its history into this state like it has with Texas.
