kind of weird considering there's relatively new evidence of a correlation with cancer that they've recently acknowledged.

I don't think they are now going with the 'nasty cancer risk labels'. This politics in the US is now favourable for American liquor industry. I don't remember if I've listened anything negative about the consumption of liquor after Trump's accession.
