I don't sample articles flicking through it anymore - I used to do that. Now, I've prototyped a little thing that runs on my macbook: it ingests RSS feeds, extracts content either directly from the feed if provided, or just reads the link, have a small local LLM summarize the entire article into one paragraph, and then I browse "the news" once or a couple of times a day on http://localhost.

If an article sounds interesting based on title + summary, I read it.
