makes your point of sale more resilient to disruptions in
the payment system.

Guess it's more symbolic than anything. Tell people not to become complacent. Make sure they support their government if they suddenly want to increase military spending to 5% of GDP. If things really break down, people will get creative. Same as when sanctions cut Russia off swift... they figured ways around it.
