I've got a suggestion.

The notifications are great, letting me know when there is a comment reply to read. But the notifications that I received sats, ... not something I need to be notified about. When I was new on SN, ... that was really awesome to see that my posts or comments received a tip. But over time, ... not something I still want to be disturbed by with a notification.

So, maybe add another option in my Settings where I can mark which events will cause the "notifications" indicator to turn on:
