I've been using Stacker News for a little while now, and I absolutely love the vibe — signal over noise, sats as feedback, and real discussions.
But I’ve noticed that for totally new users (especially those who didn’t come from Nostr or Bitcoin Twitter), it can be a bit intimidating to figure out:
How to earn sats
What Cowboy Credits are
What “territories” even mean
Why zaps don’t show up in your wallet
How and when to post or comment
🔄 Idea: How about creating a one-page “New User Journey” that shows how your first week could look?
Example:
Day 1: Lurk and zap posts in ~meta or ~bitcoin
Day 2: Post an intro in ~new or ~africa
Day 3: Comment on 2 posts and reply to someone
Day 4: Learn how Cowboy Credits work
Day 5: Try posting something original
Day 6: Connect your Lightning wallet
Day 7: Reflect and start building your rep
This could even be a zappable badge challenge! It would give structure to the experience and make onboarding more fun and meaningful.
Would love to hear thoughts. Has anyone here tried onboarding friends or family? What helped them the most?
