I'm morning all the way, I like frontloading my day and getting things out of the way. Before having a kid, I would sit up later and work on things, but I'm always at my peak productivity in the morning and day, and shift to different tasks past 14.00 - 15.00. Evenings I save for reading, gaming etc
I'll sometimes go to the supermarket after taking the kids to the bus stop and ill be in there crushing the weekly shop at like 7.15am with nobody around, i love it lol
for those night owls, is it hard to be optimal like this when most of life and work is structured in favour of the morning riser?

For all you "night owls" (which I used to proudly call myself), your schedule changes as you age. For me, I would say 40s was the turning point.
As much as I used to love staying up to 3:30am every night, now I like the reverse: Getting up at 5:45am and having a cup of coffee as the sun rises is great. Its the perfect time to exist in quiet, read a bit, work on that complex bit of code/script that you disregarded yesterday.

plus no distractions from other people becuase you're up early

I am definitely a night person. If you love early morning shopping you should go to the grocery store at 9pm. Amazing.
reply
Maybe the two optimal times are either super early or super late, extreme shopping is the way
reply
Yes the only drawback with late shopping is if you are looking for prepared foods or things from the bakery there might not be much left but otherwise it is a good time to shop.
reply
true, same thing happens super early sometimes, especially if you want a rotiserre chicken etc, 10am is probably the sweet spot
reply
I do and it feels like I'm the only person doing a full ass grocery haul at that time.
Then there's only one cashier still open and I show up with a full cart while some dude who just hurried out of his double parked car to get a quick 2L mountain dew and a pack of sausages is stuck waiting behind me
Besides that and the fact that on-site butcher is gone, it's pretty great

Evening, like crazy, but not night...(But I also enjoy getting up early now and again; feels like you get so much done!)

100% night owl here.
I go to bed usually between 2-4am, wake-up at noon. Go to the local breakfast place around 1pm. Then I go to the beach for a bit and start my work around 2pm.
I think I get most of the work done between 8pm - midnight.
While it's not the ideal routine - but so far its been working okay for me.
reply
That sounds pretty good , as long as you keep control of your time

I am a total morning person. I wake up at 5:30 in the morning to start my workday. I am a salesman and I work for myself.

Morning people are possessed by the devil! I thought everyone knew that hehehe

Definitely a night person, though I’ve done the early morning stuff and definitely like feeling accomplished to start the day. I just naturally prefer to be up later

i find going to sleep around 11.30 - 12 is my sweet spot. the kids school routine has kind of messed up mine and i've reverted back to going to bed like a small child lol, in the summer holidays i reclaim my schedule though

I’m a night person. I used to be a morning person until my job required me to work from 3pm to 7am. That turned me into a night person and have been that way since then. Now I can’t break the habit.

I'm a night owl. I do most of my stuff coding (decoding), studying, gaming, cooking at night :) (and it is obvious, and I do not need to mention that stealing kids is obviously a night job)
