We have hired contractors directly from github. I always tell young IT people that they should absolutely have a github and it should basically be their resume. Checking out someones github is at least a 5x better interview technique than anything else....
This doesn't just go for developers, really anything in IT should can be represented by a github repo.....

if they want to be paid in crypto its like a no downside hire. The person will be way smarter than your average CV pusher.
