Why do you think that we are seeing this continuous stream of outrage upon outrage? After all, to date, we've all been kids once upon a time. Parenting didn't stick? Parenting didn't happen?

Probably some of both.
Outcomes follow incentives and right now people are incentivized to behave like this, so more do so than used to.

It’s similar to parenting, where you can’t reward tantrums, even if your kid isn’t totally in the wrong.
