India, with 2,589 kt of apple production, ranks fifth. Apples are grown mainly in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand. Popular Indian varieties include Ambri, Red Delicious, and Royal Delicious, often grown in the foothills of the Himalayas.
