pull down to refresh

This week we talk about another winter walk. I seem to like to reverse the seasons quite a bit, talking about winter walks in the summer and summer walks in the winter, but that's the advantage of writing about past walks/hikes. With that said, we head to Pitt-Addington Marsh, a wildlife management area located to the north of Pitt Meadows, BC, with lots of birds and other animals living in the area. The conservation area is 2,972 hectares large and contains many kilometers of walkable trails. When we visited the conservation area back in December 2021, we drove to the parking lot at Rannie Road and only walked the closed off section of Rannie Road, which was about 4.9km long out-and-back with no elevation gain. It was a flat and straight unpaved road, blocked off by a gate so cars could not drive onto it, but people were walking on it. The road runs east-west, with Pitt Lake to the north, marshlands to the south, and the peaks of Golden Ears to the west. The road was very flat and easy to walk, so my little one, at the age of 3 at the time, was able to walk the whole way without needing to go onto the baby carrier. There was a viewing tower on the road about a quarter of the way into the walk, and we went up the tower to look at the surrounding landscape from a higher up vantage point. The walk was straight forward and easy with beautiful views along the way.
There were many of these blueberry fields along the road during our drive to Pitt-Addington Marsh.
Info board at the trailhead.
There was a boat launch / dock near the trailhead.
Little one walking on his own.
Heading west with the peaks of Golden Ears straight ahead of us.
My wife likes to take pictures of our backs.
Marshland.
More marshland.
Pitt Lake to the north.
Up on the viewing tower.
Pitt Lake again.
I believe this is at the end of the trail looking back south-west.
The sun was already starting to go low in the early afternoon because it was winter. We have long nights and short days here during winter.
Back near the parking lot. The boat launch / dock was in sight.

Beautiful! The weather seems to be pretty good out there. At our place we just keep sweating. It's too hot and humid. Desperately waiting for winters already.

Thanks. These photos were taken back in December 2021, so it was during winter. That's why we were wearing thick jackets in the photos. It's summer here right now too, pretty hot today actually.

I liked how you sometimes wrote about why a particular photo was taken. Intentionality of creator adds depth to the article

Thanks. Just trying to add some context instead of just posting the photos. Glad you like it.
