Amazing advice thanks for sharing!
I do agree that any side project that solves a problem for you or someone else is what you should shoot for as soon as you have the basic skills to build it.
Something that you authored yourself, solves some real problem (no matter how small or niche) and maybe even has some real users will always be a HUGE differentiator
Yeah I watched one of these interviews back in the day I should return to them again. I never read a new kind of science though
built this as soon as I had the skills to, have been obsessed with cellular automata since I was 12 for some reason https://github.com/AustinKelsay/austins-game-of-life
This is gonna be a game changer!
Now I can remake my "Building your first Lightning App" workshop for the 4th time lol
Something I've thought that would be cool is if you could randomly "find" a ten gallon hat that gives you a temporary boost to your trust score thereby increasing the default reach of your posts. This would incentivize you to post still to earn sats but would give you a distinct edge while wearing it.
Wow nice collection! I've never actually read a programming book (except for mastering bitcoin and programming bitcoin) I learned everything from online docs, videos, and courses. Funny how different the newer generations approach learning programming.
Learn: Learn 2-3 concepts
Build: Build something using those concepts
Push: Push it to github and back it up
Reference: reference for later when you need to reuse those concepts or code
Repeat
I like ternary for a one off condition but if-else for anything that might get nested later down in the block of code
This has some educational resources but might not be fully up to date: https://book.pleblab.com/
Yo thanks for sharing your journey and huge congrats on your first FOSS contribution!
The first year is definitely the hardest. You're doing the right thing by trying new projects and getting your hands dirty as much as possible.
Feel free to reach out anytime if I can help
What browser are you on? It's possible your browser security is blocking the extension. Sometimes I need ti disable on certain sites
This is the furthest along nip for polls/votes, still not fully merged/implemented but we decided to just start using it and propagating the nip-41 notes early rather than sit on our hands and wait for someone else to do it
Nice!
This is a great approach. Usually applications will tell you exactly what they want, you can usually search your experience to find an example where you did this exact thing.
Great idea to already have a list of these ready to go though
Yeah I've heard this as well. Sometimes I would blank at the end of an interview when they would ask if I have any questions for them (I usually didn't cause I had already done so much research lol) A good thing to fall back on is "How do I grow here?", "What growth opportunities do you have?", etc
