I agree with you. I wouldn't call that segment large. They are just very vocal.
To me it does not.
In a Bitcoin world, housing would become cheaper over time compared to your savings.
Also, the price of housing (in terms of hours of labor) would likely be much lower in general because housing and real estate currently hold a massive store of value role in our economy that would be greatly reduced in a hard money world.
In a Bitcoin world, the role of debt in the economy would be vastly reduced because loaners would have a much lower incentive to loan out a currency that is deflationary. People would buy houses upfront because mortgages would be very expensive and risky to take.
This would mean that instead of getting a mortgage and paying it off for 30 years, people would likely rent for an extended period of time till they save enough to outright buy a house.
Very true! Things will change and I hope that non-custodial lightning does become much more onchain footprint minimized.
Also other layer 2 solutions like ARK are being explored.
Non-custodial lightning wallets work okay right now but in order for bitcoin to succeed, onchain fees will have to increase by quite a bit. If fees were to reach equivalent value today of 50 USD it will make the practicality of using a non-custodial lightning wallet pretty low for the average person.
I think the average person will use custodial lightning for their day to day transactions but keep their saving in self-custody layer 1 wallets.
Fedimint is the project you are referring to. I am excited to see where it goes as I think it is a huge improvement to current custodial options.
In Ark, is 1 connector used to gain custody of multiple vTXOs? I was a little confused about this because in the whiteboard video it looked like 1 connector was needed for each redemption of a vTXO.

Oh yes I totally agree.
I wonder if there are historical (maybe 1800s) stats for:
Market Cap of Gold / Market Cap of All Assets
I assume this ratio would be similar in a Bitcoin world

In a post-subsidy era, delaying the halving by another 4 year period would not do anything because there already is no subsidy. Am I missing something?

I agree.
Bitcoin is a better monetary system. And thats all it is.

I don't understand, are you talking about fractional reserves?
This is the thorough explanation of Ark I was looking for and now I'm starting to get it.
Excited to see how Ark develops.
I agree.
Speculators in the market are what cause the massive swings in bitcoin, but the over all upward trend in bitcoin in the long term is because of the continuous stacking of long term holders.
I just tested it out:
I made a luks usb, put a test file on it and ran fsck on the actual drive partition. The decrypted device is still fine and the test file is accessible!
Still though you should not run fsck on the encrypted partition.
// Test of code markdown package main import ( "fmt" ) func main() { for i := 0; i < 4000000000000; i++ { fmt.Println("Money printer go burrrrrrrrrrrrrr") } }
One issue you could face with this method for your specific case (withdraw from exchange) is if the exchange withdraw transaction is very large in terms of vBytes (contains many other withdraws to other customers), it could be very expensive to do child pays for parent because you are having to pay for everyone's withdraws to confirm, not just yours.
Oh I see! Do Swan and CashApp run their own markets? I use Strike and I know that they use some other exchange to actually execute trades.
Yes I totally agree that all these exchanges are gonna get a lot smaller. They rely so heavily on the volume that the shitcoins bring them. Coinbase stock looking like a good short lol.
