I'm learning to handle grief.
My brother committed suicide yesterday which was on the one year anniversary of his wife doing the same. Both had their struggles.
You sort of just assume that friends and family roughly your age will be around and grow old along side of you. Sadly, it's not always the case.
I've just discharged myself from rehab at day 21 of a 28 day rehab for heroin addiction. I left early because my wife was involved in a significant car accident. She's still in intensive care with burns and broken limbs. But let's be real - 21 days was more of a detox than a rehab. If I'm being honest, I probably need 60 to 90 days in there. Clearly unable to do that right now.
Two months ago if this had happened I'd have put a syringe in my arm and had a shot to forget about this. God knows I'm stinging to do that right now too. But that's the temporary and easy way out of life. Life is hard.
Please. For your sake, and your loved ones, if things start getting rough for you don't be afraid to reach out and talk to someone - anyone - about what's going on for you. I'm assuming most people here identify as male. It's not a sign of weakness.
Putting your hand up and saying you need support is a sign of strength.
So yeah - dealing with grief. That's what I'm learning today.
In a friendly manner you tell them what Bitcoin means to you. Perhaps sit down with them and go through an introductory video on YT that explains what BTC is.
After doing this she will either take your guidance on board and investigate further or she won't. You can't force people to liking things.
And no matter what happens, if she doesn't like BTC or even if she actually does start putting a % of her monthly salary into it she will still not sleep with you. Sorry mate.
Not true. I am about to go into rehab for a crippling addiction. I'm taking stock of what behaviour and underlying issues I have. I am not in a good place.
I use 1Password for Families.
My wife and kids have accounts. I think it is super important kids become familiar with a password manager and using it from the day they first log online.
Even though I have the technical know-how on how to run keepassxc and other open source solutions like BitWarden to keep them in sync my wife and kids don't. 1Password for Families manages all the infra and the security model which frees up my time. And I'm happy to pay them to do that too.
Sure, we all know of the mis-steps that 1Password has done however they have listened (mostly) to their clients and implemented solutions accordingly. They are turning their strategy to passkeys which is the future and leading the way like this shows innovation.
And not only do I use them to store passwords but also notes, passports, licenses, server creds, crypto wallets phrases and even PINS for the myriad of physical locks at my workplace.
I have a Visionary Protonmail membership and they have given me access to their ProtonPass offering. It looks good so far, however, are years behind 1Password. I'm sure they will catch up over time and I will certainly consider it in the future yet at this moment they are not quote there yet.
