Oh yeah! I do remember that. It was very suspicious. I didn’t buy into the whole, they were hacked, narrative. But I couldn’t figure out why they did that. The only thing I could think of was to control the fiat to Bitcoin exchange rate. Even if there was an effect, I think it was minor.

The thing that blew my fucking mind in 2024 was, the approval of Spot Bitcoin ETFs

If everyone just chooses “myself” every time then this silliness will be futile.

We could all write to our representatives and senators and tell them that the law needs to change. We should not be paying capital taxes when we spend money, and Bitcoin is money.

Honestly, this is really dumb. A bitcoin network can run with a small, energy efficient miner and an energy efficient node. It doesn’t “need” all that mining power. It is by choice that people run a miner with great processing power and/or many of them.

Fist off, I’m sorry that happened to you. This is unfair and you shouldn’t have had to go through that.

I wish that you could take that company to court and get your stolen money back.

Bitcoin is only valuable if it can be exchanged for goods and services. I try to get people to accept bitcoin when I buy goods or services. Hopefully it will take off more as more people start acquiring it.

I do use liquid for personal use but not for buying/selling things.

I tried the USDT stablecoin but then was stuck with it because the shitty Ethereum network doesn’t allow USDT to move between networks (Liquid vs Ethereum).

A buddy paid me back lunch money he borrowed in 2014, but in Bitcoin instead of USD. In 2016 I started taking Kratom and in 2017 when my $20 was now worth $300 I used it to buy lots of Kratom. Some sites took Bitcoin directly back then. I had to stop taking Kratom because of how crazy addicted I got. In spring 2022 I finally was able to break the habit.
