Im not super rich or nothing , young buck with a dream some would say, got a house , got some crypto got my dream car , got a gf thats a nurse . I am about to sell my 370z to buy into some projects. IMHO , we will not see the bull run till 150 days after the halvin .. but I want to be ready this time. I held onto ONE last run with .06 buy in and held on and lost it all. Big ol mistake not taking profits. Don't plan on that happening again. Did you guys sell any tangible assets for crypto or made big choices that could effect your life if this doesn't work out..

Bitcoin Bull Run decisions.

I was an early- ish investor into btc 2016-2017. Things really took off in 2021. I had mainly just bitcoin and ethereum. However in 2021 when everything went crazy. I would trade out btc and ethereum for a bunch of alt coins trying to follow the Bitcoin - big alts - small alts flow people talked about. I was inexperienced and did not understand the concept every time I did this it created a taxable event. I was under some stupid impression that you weren’t taxed until you cashed out in USD. So when the crash happened I watched my portfolio go from about 330k to about 40k. AMP and ALGO were 2 of my bigger casualties. I never sold or bought anything since I’m still holding. My portfolio sits right now at 80k. 50% is ETH and the rest is spread between. SOL, LINK, LTC, BTC, AVAX, ALGO, and AMP

I owe IRS over 50k from 2021. I would like to hear some sensible opinions from this forum on what you guys would do in my position. I was really hoping to hold all of it to another big bull run but obviously there is no guarantee this will happen. Should I just cash out 50k and pay the IRS. Maybe cash out half now ? 25k? Any opinions that are trying to help are welcome.

I know Bitcoin Unlimited became the BCH full-node client. But is there a software fork of the "Bitcoin Core" client that signals a desire for larger blocks on BTC itself. Without stripping out some of the innovations that the BTC devs have actually come up with.

You could have a whole bunch of conditions such as:

X% of the previous Y blocks mined must have signaled for larger block sizes AND the blockheight must be over Z etc, AND transaction fees previous Y blocks must have exceed the mining rewards from the previous Y blocks.
Because I run a Full BTC, and a lightning node, and a BCH node, and a Monero node, and a Litecoin node, and a Dogecoin node. It all runs on a single server on less than $1000 worth of hardware.

I'm not a fan of the way the BCH hardfork went down. I actually think we need layer-2 scaling solutions, but at the same time, just trying to manage my lightning channels with small blocks is an absolute nightmare.

I like BCH, it's actually usable. But the whole Bitcoin economy is so fractured. You have people who don't use BCH, and you have people who don't do Lightning. Or they don't do Litecoin, or they don't do Monero. I don't HODL much BCH, it's done nothing but lose value compared to BTC, but it's actually usable.

I don't want to see another contentious hardfork like the BCH hardfork, but I want to signal my desire for larger blocks. I understand the small block arguments, but like what about 2MB? Some breathing room PLEASE, even if I know the block size increase is 3 years away. A little hope for the future of Bitcoin. $20 transaction fees are insane.

Is there some way of signaling a desire larger blocks with a software fork of Bitcoin Core kinda like the old BTC-Unlimited or BitcoinXT?

Bitcoin; fool me one time shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

You have likely heard a version of that popular phrase at some point in your life. However, as time goes by it is becoming more and more applicable to Bitcoin. For example, let’s go back in time to 2019. We were still fresh off of the blow-off-the-top moment that concluded the bull market in 2018. Bitcoin was much less proven than it is today and there were real concerns that the death blow had finally been dealt to this market. People weren’t assuming that the market would recover like they are today.

With that said, as we progress through 2019 the market began to recover. All of a sudden Bitcoin soared back over $10k and hope was reignited in the market. Bitcoin was hungry for more and didn’t stop there, rocketing up above $13k. That is when people began to talk about us being in a bull market, that Bitcoin was officially back, and were even discussing how high the price would go. Since it reached a price of $20k in 2017, now we had our sights set on $50k, $100k, and beyond. Prices had begun to recover just enough to cause people to forget how painful the year before was, and how you should never assume anything with Bitcoin. Coincidently it was also a year before the next Bitcoin halving.


Sound familiar?

That is the exact same formula that has been playing out this year.

We are only a year removed from arguably the most painful period in Bitcoin and crypto history. However, the market began to recover. Along the way a few bullish announcements were made, specifically BlackRock’s spot ETF application, and Bitcoin jolted up to $31k. Hype returned to the market, and people were claiming Bitcoin was back. That it was only a matter of time until the ETF was approved, and it would be the catalyst that sends Bitcoin above $100k.

This could all be true. But oddly enough in the summer right before the next halving the price of Bitcoin tanked once again, causing people to lose confidence in the market once again.

It happening once in 2019 would be a nice coincidence. But now that it has happened twice, it has become a trend. With that said, in 2023 we are the lucky ones. Time and history is our friend.

As I mentioned above, Bitcoin was much less established during the last cycle. Many people hoped that it would recover someday, but there was a lot less history to hang your hope on. Fast-forwarding to 2023, we have seen this story play out time and time again. Bitcoin soars up to incredible heights, only to be brought down by FUD, or a parabolic blow-off-the-top moment. In the past, we had no idea if it would recover or not. To be honest, we still don’t. But with each day that Bitcoin is alive and producing blocks, the odds of that happening improve. Each cycle that Bitcoin survives through also improves those odds.

In 2019, after the price of BTC tanked there were lots of people who lost conviction and sold out of their positions. They just couldn’t handle more pain in this market. Little did they know that Bitcoin would soon soar up to $69k during the next cycle.

The same situation is playing out today. People were ready for the bull market to begin. Hyped about the BlackRock news, and the upcoming halving. Only for air to be let out of the balloon.

However, we all know exactly how this situation will play out next cycle. Don’t let Bitcoin fool you.

Is Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies fooling people?

The common wisdom in here seems to be DCA into bitcoin for safe returns. My question is when do you realize those returns?

What pricepoint for bitcoin would you sell? I've seen estimates on here for 2x-10x as realistic bitcoin targets for the next bull run.

What do you expect for the next crypto winter? Will prices return to where we are now? Will the average be higher? lower?

I know this is all speculative, but in the past it seemed that a lot of people here were invested in bitcoin for the long long term. Now I'm getting the impression that more people want to realize their gains when possible, but I wanted to get a better feel for that.

Will You Cash Out During the Next Bull Run?


Do you want to be the person who becomes a crypto millionaire or even billionaire? HODLing is NOT the way to go. Why? Its very simple, you won't reap the benefits, and you won't have the opportunity to strike where the real money is.

Ultimately, the era for becoming absolutely loaded via Bitcoin or a mainstream altcoin has passed, I'm not saying these coins aren't good investments, they are, they just have low ceilings. The real money now is in VERY unknown altcoins available on sites like PancakeSwap. People forget that coins like Shiba, Dogelon Mars, and others are SIGNIFICANTLY more valuable than they were at their initial stages. They reached 500,000% and 10,000% gains respectively. Lets be real, anyone reading this now is not loaded, if you want to make real money off of small investments, this is the way to go.

But how do you find these coins, most of them were basically unheard of until it was too late? Yea, I suppose, but there's a pretty simple way to find new ones: Elon. Literally just invest in anything with something related to Elon Musk in the name, put $10 into like a hundred of these things, and when the next bull market arrives you'll be killing it with one or two of them.

Additionally, there are also options currently available that are also publicly known to have massive gain opportunities. Take SafeMoon as an example, it has massive price spikes and slumps all the time, and its existed long enough that its easy to see where the price ceilings and floors exist. Literally just buy a ton at the floor and sell at the ceiling, it really doesn't get easier than that.

I get it, the whole "rug-pulling" strategy doesn't enable the rise of privatized currency, and if you really want to support that goal, lesser known altcoins aren't the path. But being honest, if you want a chance at getting absolutely loaded from small investments, you won't get there with Bitcoin, you'll get there with SafeMoon.

Why HODLing is a terrible strategy

I was thinking about this the other day and I thought I'll ask you, just interested in your opinions.

Bitcoin is the daddy of crypto and is the most likely to be around in 5-10 years but ETH and ADA have smaller market caps so more room to grow.

I would personally choose ETH as it can still 2x or 3x in the next few years whereas BTC may not even 2x.

Ever since RTO happened this week, people just have been leaving the office early once work is done.

People have been leaving the office once all work and meetings are done which is like around 2 pm. Heard people from other teams complaining that they were wasting more money coming into the office especially when the cost of living is higher and being remote or hybrid 2 days was helping offset that. They said that to get more time back for their day, they are just going to leave once work is slow or when there is no work to be done at all and I am going to start doing the same.

So some background.  I make good money, more than double what my wife makes at her work.  I never throw that up because I feel we both contribute to the family in many ways.   I put in a ton of hours and she is 40 or less and has way more flexibility to take kids to appointments and things like that.

So she wanted a nice SUV (like every high end feature that exists) and I said sure, and we found what she wanted and put a huge amount down, and financed the rest.  I have two vehicles...one is an old beater truck we use for hauling things, the other is a more modest car...some features but nothing way expensive.  The SUV was very expensive...there is no chance she'd afford it without my salary contribution. 

So the other day she was on me about driving "her" vehicle when I have to run places sometimes.  And she's correct...sometimes I take the nice vehicle on a quick trip to the post office or something like that, otherwise it's hers.  Well this irritated me something fierce because I pay for the thing too.  I said something of the tune of "Listen, you'd never have a vehicle that nice without all the time and work I put in to make the salary I make, so if I want to drive it, I'm driving the damn thing."  She then let go of the argument and didn't say anything else.

I feel like a jerk because I never throw that in her face, but I was really mad that she feels that I am not entitled to use something I'm paying a lot of money for.  AITAH?

I'll try and keep this simple.

Daughter was overpaid due to the hourly rate being higher than agreed upon. Daughter's first job so she's learning how to read a paycheck stub, etc...

Boss tells her we will reduce your rate below what you should be making to make up the difference until the amount balances out.

The problem... this next paycheck the boss withheld the entire check. Big fat $0.00.

From what the I read online in my state employer must pay minimum wage during the period of the balance being paid off.

I am beyond livid and this bitch fucked with the wrong parent. I don't want to to be a helicopter parent, but fucking my daughter out of her entire pay is beyond fucked in my opinion.

Edit: Daughter is a minor. I'm trying not to be a helicopter parent, but she's a minor.

I just found out nothing is recorded in the payroll software for this pay period. No federal tax, state tax, hours worked nothing. Only evidence my daughter has for time worked is clocking in & out.

I know that currently the in the MCU....The Avengers are currently not active but...still. I hope that Cap 4 ends with Sam forming a new Avengers team.

But finally to the topic at hand. Think the Lagos fight for example. The Avengers are casually taking on some terrorist that want to steel some experimental stuff...low stakes, characters bantering among each and etc (I know the scene is very important to the movie as a whole as it sparks the entire Accords conflict...but humor me for a sec)...It makes the MCU feel more alive and less static Imo.

The MCU needs the Avengers to do more casual Avenging.

So I work in an office with like 35 employees. Recently our manager put up a sign saying

“Employees are not to discuss salaries inside or outside work, if an employee has an issue with there own pay please come and see me, please sign here to show you understand.”

The first person to sign it was a complete legend. He wrote his name, his position time at the company and his full salary package including his pension contribution and annual leave.

Everyone followed his example and when the page ran out of space people put up additional pages until almost everyone had put there salary up there.

So everyone learned what everyone else was earning and it turns out some people were being taken advantage of…by a lot.

I look around the world and see countries that dont even know how to build side walks. Why on earth should they be entrusted to manage their own money.

Honestly I dont think theres one country capable of managing their own money, not even America.

A bit over a month ago Jim Cramer advised people to sell Bitcoin. Since then Bitcoin has gone up more than 40%

Since then, and it has been barely a month, Bitcoin's worth in USD has risen about 40%-45% and it keeps steadily increasing almost every week lately.

This guy seriously proves time and time again that you should not listen to him for any financial advise at all whether it's stock market or cryptos, and if anything you should do exact opposite of what he says.
