@DarthCoin
stacking since: #166longest cowboy streak: 77npub1lxktp...zlkqpm5xlc
SN user since item #166 Early adopter (2012 class), old bitcoiner (toxic) maximalist, trying to onboard to Bitcoin as many nocoiners I can, by doing guides and give them support 24/7.
Shitcoiners - prove yourself you are worth it, otherwise HFSP. Before you start your SN journey you better read this: Some little advice for new stackers on SN.
I write on Substack - Bitcoin and LN guides. All my Bitcoin guides are also backed-up on Github, organized by category: https://darth-coin.github.io/. Some other quick guides posted only on SN:
I am testing BTC/LN solutions all the time from the POV of a normal user just to be able to teach noobs into that BTC solution they need for each case.
I also write here my Citadel Story - building my own homesteading citadel.
Yes, hate me if you want, for my writing tone, for my way to express myself... I don't fucking care! It's your problem not mine, if you are too snowflake for my way of talking. You find it offensive? I found it funny. And that's why I am happier than you. Important is the message and content I wrote not the way I say it. And btw, sometimes I make intentional gramatical errors just for fun and to fuck the algo.
FUCK THE BANKS, FUCK THE GOVS, FUCK THE SHITCOINS! BITCOIN IS DESTINY FOR ALL!

The legend of DarthCoin:

In 2012 this old wise friend of mine (is older than me and literally like ObiWan), that was mining Bitcoin, he told me about Bitcoin.
And he literally told me: "if somebody will want to strike down Bitcoin, it will make it even stronger than we can imagine."
That made me think and study deeply into Bitcoin and that's how DarthCoin was born. I never "leave" Bitcoin, always staying on the same path, never shitcoining. Shitcoining it's a sin.

Can vouch for Darth's helpfulness in the Umbrel community ⚡️🙌

Thanks for your contributions to SN and within the bitcoin field! Just started reading your guides. Thanks for writing those! I'm doing combo of private nodes on Blixt and CLN (on Embassy Pro device) and an LND routing node that I'm having fun managing (also on Embassy Pro). While I would prefer to have clearnet support (this is supposedly coming in 2023), Tor only seems to be working okay for the moment. I'm not running a routing node to get rich but rather to contribute to decentralization of the LN network and support better liquidity.
I have had quite a few force closures on me lately, however. I've reached out to the node operators and the theme is that they are running their nodes on Umbrel and did not initiate the force closures or even know why they are happening.
My "best" channels are the big players (like c=) to be honest. Great flow both directions with that. I'll have to be more selective in choose channels to open in the future.
Thanks again for your work!

Start9 is alpha testing a version that will allow much better clearnet support. However, at the moment I have albyhub running on my Start9, which allows very easy access to my LND node. See here: #682275
I can also access my LND node via LNC on Zeus. Zeus also works with Albyhub
I have started closing my public channels and taking the route of opening private channels per Darth's recommendations. Since I don't have time to devote to the running of the nodes, I have lost sats due to channel closures (again probably due to my node being on Tor only at the moment). The upcoming clearnet support will definitely improve things from Tor only connectivity.
I still highly recommend start9!
reply
Yes, I've played around with Start9 too, is a very good and stable OS for a node.

Could you please help me out with set up my own cold wallet??

Sorry for asking too many questions but l have a question regarding build your hodl btc wallet guide when l want to upgrade tails to the lastest version l should connect to Tor but shouldn't we never connect to internet when using tails and our wallet should never touch the internet
reply
Thank you l already gone through the guides but wondering the option B generate wallet from machine PC and connect to internet and then set up a mobile app watch only wallet?? What different that from set up my own cold wallet
reply
The definition of a cold wallet: a wallet that you will not expose it to online. A wallet from which you cannot send/move funds, you only can receive without even "open" it.
That means you will need to use a MPK (master public key) to generate new BTC deposit addresses and also check the balance of the wallet if you want. WITHOUT EXPOSING IT TO THE WILD WEST ONLINE.
reply
I got you, however create a watch only wallet there are two options, options B tell you to create new wallet although l already create it when l used other guides " create my own cold Wallet" What l don't get it options B which created a entire new seed but it supposed to be import MPK!!

Since you noticed my post, I'll write one too. A couple of days ago I created the Elektrum wallet. All according to the instructions, as in your blog. Tailc. I think it's a good option, better than Ledger. Of course the BIOS is a bit disturbing, but the chance of infection is negligible. Now I want to open a channel. I didn't see such an article on your blog. If you don't mind, give me a link to some good material. I want to tie the channel to the "Blue Wallet". It, by the way, is what I use to view my cold storage. My English is very bad, so there are some inaccuracies.

Howdy @DarthCoin, glad to see you're one of the most prolific stackers around and a proud cowboy!
Just want to introduce you to the ~AGORA territory, a place to buy and sell your products or services with other stackers and obviously use bitcoin P2P as a medium of exchange.
Read this intro guide whenever needed, and if you have any feedback or suggestion on how we can make this space more useful, please do get in touch!
Wish you great and prosperous times around this wonderful corner of the internet!
Stay tuned, stack sats ;)

Hey Just curious, you heard about bitcoin in 2012, did you also get in at that time, or did you mull it over for a while?
reply
Did you read and understand what I wrote in my bio? In which part I said that I left bitcoin?
reply
Yes, l read your bio. Your friend introduced you in 2012. How long did to take to mull over before you bought your first sat? Or at that time you could have easily bought a full bitcoin?
reply
How long? Instantly. My friend sold me my 1st BTC with beer money. And from that moment I never stop accumulating and learning about Bitcoin.
at that time you could have easily bought a full bitcoin?
in 2012 you could still mine with your PC easily. I mined for a while too, later start mining with some USB AntMiners.

Do they address currency/money in Star Wars?
reply
it's the force?
reply
Yes, in many places. The imperials have their own credits, both in coin and electronic form.
In the outer rim, where the empire doesn't reach often, planets tend to have their own currencies. Anakin's slavemaster Watto wouldn't accept imperial credits for the hyperdrive repair in episode 1, and wanted 'dactarii' instead. In the Mandolorian, set ~50 years later after the empire fell, the New Republic had it's own currency as well.

Today I was doing the dishes and listening to a podcast here in Brazil (Bitcoin Area) and during the podcast I had a thought that I would like to share with you, if you want to answer I will like it :)
' If bitcoin is constructed in such a way that it is impossible to hack (X).
Does it mean that hackers (Y) together with the +(Y) of all of them, 'starting today' would start their workprojects for improvement'adoption' of bitcoin?
Thinking about it, I started to believe that: It is impossible to Hack (X).
With the birth of bitcoin, you can't doattack (X) it means that it was polished by several (Y,Y,Y) + '
I'm terrible at expressing myself, using a translator, it's not even spoken. But if you don't understand I'll come back to 'ask' in the best possible way for me

i see your node is slowly dying?
reply
Yes, I let it die. Soon will be shut down. As I said many times now, I stop running routing nodes. I run only private nodes.
Also as a side note... latest Umbrel update is a TOTAL MESS! Never thought it will became such garbage.
reply
yeah umbrel is trash. i will try unbrel soon

Care to say what is specifically bad about it?
I think that for any serious node one should start from a bare bones linux installation.
Can't see myself holding serious amounts (e.g 1BTC for my risk-tolerance) in something that's early phase, node.js, abstracts everything away and etc.
It's a good opportunity to dip your toes.
reply
you say it. barebone linux + bitcoind + lnd/cln, not docker-container from questionable sources
