Turkish people are generally hospitable. They have traditions of helping foreigners, offering them the best room in the house, etc. However, because this is socially ingrained – meaning that acting otherwise would be frowned upon – it's sometimes done reluctantly. In short, you might look at appearances and think, "What nice people they are!" But ingrained attitudes can mislead you. TELL THEM NOT TO TRUST EVERYONE... 😉
He's an interesting filmmaker. I remember him going to meet with people who didn't leave their homes when the volcano was about to erupt and most people had fled.
