unreliable in terms of function? Can't verify that. more and more people will use phones instead of desktop pc. mobile apps are the future of mass adoption. I always recommend calyxos or graphene as os for a google phone....

This week in the world of Bitcoin Wallets:

- [Blixt](https://blixtwallet.github.io/) v0.6.0 has been released. What I really like about Blixt (as well as SBW, OBW and Standard Sats) is this concept of a mobile LN node. You can manage channels (nearly) as you know it from your home node. A special functionality opens channels automatically, so you have a good user experience from the get go. Blixt is now not only a mobile LN and on-chain Wallet, it's also possible to use it on MacOS. Also a few bugfixes including the recent LND fix have been incorporated. I always had issues running it through tor on android. On clearnet it always worked great. But since, at least for me, tor by default is a privacy best practice, i abandoned Blixt. But I certainly will look into it in the near future again. Oh and sats are the standard now in Blixt.

- What really caught my attention this week was the [satsigner wallet](https://satsigner.com/). The UX/UI on this one is breath-taking. It's like a learning by doing wallet. With bitcoin, like with many things, doing it is way better than reading about it. You get amazing visualization of all the bitcoin best practices, from coin control to transaction fees and transaction graph as well as account management. Not yet released but very promising. Since the main developer [Pedro](https://twitter.com/pedromvpg?s=20&t=z3Ey3tF3j1dSKms5yf6LoA) claims it's privacy focused, i hope for tor by default. Connecting to your own node should be taken for granted. Even joinmarket implementation is possible. Just look at the concept pictures [here](https://github.com/satsigner/discovery). - [Standard Sats Wallet](https://twitter.com/standard_sats?s=20&t=gpNrE5DKL6yEM3XVv3O7dQ) is now available under the new name [Valet](https://twitter.com/standard_sats/status/1589309589883072513?s=20&t=gpNrE5DKL6yEM3XVv3O7dQ) and it also got a new logo. Reason behind that is most probably [THIS](https://twitter.com/standard_sats/status/1581707545642938369?s=20&t=puTxeBffn8fBnUyqX3pDYQ) tweet.

- Since it it quite silent this week in regards to wallet news, I want to set things straight:

1. [nunchuk](https://twitter.com/nunchuk_io?s=20&t=aBo15TjpTZFLvDctSP8BbA) reached out to me and clarified, that they don't have a release history on github, but they might start one in the future.

1. I had a unfortunate wording for describing Bitkit Wallet by [Synonym](https://twitter.com/Synonym_to?s=20&t=aBo15TjpTZFLvDctSP8BbA) as "account based" wallet. It's of course completely self-custodial, but leverages key-authentications functionality. It nevertheless adds a "social" component to this wallet.

- [Sparrow Wallet](https://twitter.com/SparrowWallet/status/1585597388751790084?s=20&t=Xl5PjlGM9l-n8w5Uh_DqDA) v1.7.0 has been released. This Version is by far the No.1 of this newsletter, and one update I am personally very excited about. You can now run Sparrow Desktop on your Raspberry Pi which is great by it's own. To run the coinjoin implementation [whirpool](https://www.samouraiwallet.com/whirlpool) with Sparrow, you have to run the app 24/7 on your desktop pc. In some use cases, this might be inconvenient. Especially if you are accustomed to the whirlpool CLI by RoninDojo. Good thing here is, that you are able to keep the mix in your [Samourai Wallet](https://twitter.com/SamouraiWallet?s=20&t=qnn7Vlq8S1srkann7ppmYw) going, even if you have closed the Android App. All the leveraging is done in the background by your RoninDojo Node on a Single Board Computer. So now you can mix with Sparrow on your low power Raspi. But [Craig Raw](https://twitter.com/craigraw?s=20&t=qnn7Vlq8S1srkann7ppmYw), the developer of Sparrow has gone even further. You don't need a desktop environment any more. A functional sibling has emerged. The Sparrow Terminal. You can now install the Wallet on a CLI only host. This includes all node implementations and Openoms already [showcased](https://twitter.com/openoms/status/1585642792667480064?s=20&t=qnn7Vlq8S1srkann7ppmYw) it on a [Raspiblitz](https://twitter.com/RaspiBlitz?s=20&t=qnn7Vlq8S1srkann7ppmYw). Where all this development leads to, is the implemention of the [Sparrow Server Daemon](https://twitter.com/SparrowWallet/status/1585598818564931584?s=20&t=Xl5PjlGM9l-n8w5Uh_DqDA) in a future release. If I am understanding this correctly, it will be soon possible, much like the earlier described Whirlpool CLI by RoninDojo, to run Sparrow in the background 24/7 on a remote machine and connect to it via dektop if you wish to. The additional possibility to assign aliases to different server configuration also supports the Sparrow Server Daemon. Amazing! Another thing worth mentioning, is the added feature for cancelling transactions.

- [Wasabi Wallet](https://twitter.com/wasabiwallet/status/1585683242522378272?s=20&t=Xl5PjlGM9l-n8w5Uh_DqDA) 2.0.2 is out. They optimized Tor connectivity, which is very important for private and reasonable fast and effective communication. Also a privacy progress feature was implemented. I haven't tested it, nor am I planning on doing so.

- [bitkit](https://bitkit.to/) Wallet has been introduced by [Synonym](https://twitter.com/Synonym_to?s=20&t=Xl5PjlGM9l-n8w5Uh_DqDA), [John Carvalho](https://twitter.com/BitcoinErrorLog?s=20&t=Xl5PjlGM9l-n8w5Uh_DqDA)'s company. It's somewhat a very "cooperate" approach to a Bitcoin/Lightning Wallet reminding me a bit of Revolut. I don't mean this in a bad way. The UI is somewhat account based. Could be a mass compatible approach. I will definetly testdrive it further in the future.

- [Bitcoin Beach Wallet](https://twitter.com/BTCBeachWallet/status/1585427403744100352?s=20&t=Xl5PjlGM9l-n8w5Uh_DqDA) added their Stablesats functionality. So besides the SimpleBitcoinWallet fork [Standard Sats](https://twitter.com/standard_sats?s=20&t=Xl5PjlGM9l-n8w5Uh_DqDA), this is now to my knowledge, the second release of a Bitcoin native Wallet with exposure to a synthetic USD/EUR Shitcoin. I don't want to go into great detail, but with both apps, you're opening short positions on bitcoin to hedge against btc short term volatility. I personally don't need and don't want to short bitcoin, but I can accept usecases, where you're living on a bitcoin standard, but have to pay in Dollar or Euros. The emerging incentives with Fiat on Bitcoin are unclear to me. We will certainly see in the future, how this turnes out.

This week in the world of Bitcoin Wallets:

- [CoinOS](https://coinos.io/) had a UI makeover. Now it progressed from a more technical/cypherpunk appearance to a more polished, cooperate interface. The old version is still availabe under [classicCoinOS](https://classic.coinos.io) with a bit more functionality. But it leverages the same backend. It seems that the possibility of using the service without any registration is gone for good. But the registration is a farce without any checks, which is a good sign. I hope their .onion site will be up and running again soon.

- [Nunchuk](https://nunchuk.io) had a massive update. You can read all of it [HERE](https://twitter.com/nunchuk_io/status/1584227212504756224?s=20&t=46Q2vsoJ-Sjo6OIA0izS3A). I'll try to highlight the most important features. I missed the fact that nunchuk is available on Android, but it is. So they get the primary key account feature on android. It's an authentification model, where you can use a privat key to log in. It's a great feature, but to my understanding, it is not advisable to use a key you actually sign transactions with. What really got me going was the custom BIP32 derivation path thing. To my understanding, it should be possible to generate xpubs based on a custom derivation paths, which is great if you use diffrent accounts as watch-onlys etc. I tested it but wasn't able to generate a derivation path. Maybe I haven't understood this correctly or I am simply too stupid. What also caught my attention is, that Nunchuk didn't have a real release history on Github. It should be open-source but on Github it's a bit diffrent than what I am accustomed to. I try to contact them a few days ago, but didn't receive feedback. Maybe I will clarify in the future.

- Open Bitcoin Wallet (OBW) or "Obiwan" (I like this) by [NBD](https://twitter.com/nbd_wtf?s=20&t=46Q2vsoJ-Sjo6OIA0izS3A) got released. If it has to be a lightning wallet, I recommend this one. Why? First of all, it's a fork of SBW [SimpleBitcoinWallet](https://twitter.com/SimpleBtcWallet?s=20&t=46Q2vsoJ-Sjo6OIA0izS3A). And SBW is/was amazing. It has TOR connectivity built in, LNURL support, onchain wallet including HWW support and most important it is a light LN Node, where you can open and close channels at will, as well as buy inbound. The main developer [online dreaming](https://twitter.com/akumaigorodski?s=20&t=46Q2vsoJ-Sjo6OIA0izS3A) has turned his back to bitcoin due to his involvement in the war in ukraine. So don't expect new releases on SBW. That's where OBW steps in. It's more or less the same right now and [fiatjaf](https://twitter.com/fiatjaf?s=20&t=46Q2vsoJ-Sjo6OIA0izS3A) is stepping up in the future development of this app. What's also worth mentioning is, that my favorite LN bitcoiner [zerofeerouting](https://twitter.com/zerofeerouting?s=20&t=46Q2vsoJ-Sjo6OIA0izS3A) is somewhat a default in this app. Additionally it increases the focus on hosted channels. I really like the concept of hosted channels. Not because of the uncle jim thoughts behind it, but more from a privacy perspective. Trust is involved with this, but privacy on L2 requires some form of trust or custodianship. SBW has great privacy defaults. Combine that with hosted channels from OBW and you got a quite a reasonable private experience (at least to my understanding; privacy on LN is hard to grasp). I am excited to see this project develop.

- [Zeus](https://twitter.com/ZeusLN?s=20&t=yTzu_VaDox4Y7_uuJic9rA)/[Evan](https://twitter.com/evankaloudis?s=20&t=hlO46D9E2rr5sH_yCWDasw) announced [Echo](echoln.com), a non-custodial and remote-access podcasting 2.0 app, that uses your own LN Node. I am curious how the battery life will compare to the quite ressource heavy apps like [Fountain](https://twitter.com/fountain_app?s=20&t=hlO46D9E2rr5sH_yCWDasw) or [Breeze](https://twitter.com/Breez_Tech?s=20&t=hlO46D9E2rr5sH_yCWDasw). Will connectivity, especially over tor, will be a thing? I will see and report.

- [Fully Noded](https://twitter.com/FullyNoded?s=20&t=yTzu_VaDox4Y7_uuJic9rA) v0.3.6 is live. Beside some minor fixes, the Join Market usage has been further improved. I love to see the integration of JM in this amazing project. What really caught my attention was [THIS](https://twitter.com/FullyNoded/status/1581049769098518528?s=20&t=yTzu_VaDox4Y7_uuJic9rA) tweet about their future intentions giving the nostr protocol a try instead of Tor. As much as I like the Tor Project, alternatives are really needed. There are a few contenders, and nostr is one of the most promising.

- [Specter](https://twitter.com/SpecterWallet?s=20&t=yTzu_VaDox4Y7_uuJic9rA) v1.13.1 is out. Nothing ground breaking here, nevertheless great to see the continous development.

- [Fountain](https://twitter.com/fountain_app?s=20&t=yTzu_VaDox4Y7_uuJic9rA) introduced a referring system. You can make sats, if a friend with your referral code streams sats to a podcast. The system is explained in [THIS](https://twitter.com/fountain_app/status/1580600806285246465?s=20&t=yTzu_VaDox4Y7_uuJic9rA) post.

- [Keeper](https://twitter.com/bitcoinKeeper_?s=20&t=yTzu_VaDox4Y7_uuJic9rA) startet out as new app with their first preview post on Oct 6. The app is somewhat related to [Hexa Wallet](https://twitter.com/HexaWallet?s=20&t=yTzu_VaDox4Y7_uuJic9rA) and resembles [Nunchuk](https://twitter.com/nunchuk_io?s=20&t=yTzu_VaDox4Y7_uuJic9rA). It's mainly focused on multisig. It also promises Tor and Electrum Server support, as well as connectivity with all major hardware wallets (including nfc devices). I really like the BIP-85 support. This allows you to derive multiple seeds from the value of just one seed. The derived seeds are unique and cannot be traced back to one another, nor can they be traced back to the original seed value. This comes in handy, especially if you experiment with different wallets a lot and want to keep everthing tidy and in order. To my knowledge, this is the first software wallet to implement this BIP. Congratulations on that. What's a bit of a mystery is their so called "inheritance support". Don't know what to expect from that. It seems like the first release to test drive this is not far away. I guess 2 weeks. I will keep you updated 4 sure.
