ESPN’s highly anticipated streaming service will cost $29.99 a month and be named “ESPN.” The new service, set to launch this fall, will give sports fans all the content shown on ESPN’s television channels, including professional and college football and basketball games. Disney is ESPN’s parent.
Interesting to see Disney finally unbundling after all these years. It never really made sense to subsidize these streaming services together in the first place. I still don’t think YouTube is making anything easier for users or creators. I often think the days of one-sided marketplaces feel numbered — we’re clearly moving toward two-sided or even multi-sided ecosystems. I can feel it in my bones.
