"Focus on the things you are for, not the things you are against. Many people spend large chunks of their day thinking about what they hate. They are always telling you about something they dislike: this food, that subject, this political party, that coworker. You are more than your frustrations. Build your identity around what you love."
~ James Clear
I need to do better with this personally but its great food for thought.

I was thinking of a related thing lately, about the times when I've felt like I was doing stuff that was fully me, wholly for the right reasons, out of joy and curiosity and passion, defined by nobody else's concerns.
It's staggering how good that feels, how a whole class of worries just evaporates, bc who can compete with you being you? You are the best and only you. You can put down a rock you didn't know you were carrying.
Then I think: is there a way to go about more of life in this mode?

This is an especially important message for smart people. It's a lot easier to pick things apart, being critical and negative, than to be charitable and see the good in what was being attempted.
If I had to pick one major thing that I like about being surrounded by bitcoiners more than being surrounded by libertarians (you know what I mean), it's that bitcoiners are building something positive, rather than trying to dismantle something negative. Ultimately, it's pretty much the same project, but the perspective difference matters.

Yes, I've heard this called "criticize by creating". Much more satisfying.

Well said. I cosign this

I was actually thinking about this earlier, there's a lot of hate, and to be honest hating something is easier than loving it, or liking it, or just merely putting up with it.
But the viral hate. Or even the viral love. Seems so--- dystopian.
Why can't we just get along and bitcoin p2p with whom we want?
You could apply this to whatever you want.

i m not sur about "if you build only your identidy with what you love" Because if you do only what you love:
  • you will miss some opinions on things "you do not like",
  • you will miss some ideas on things "you do not like",,
  • you will miss some understanding on things "you do not like",
At the end nothing is black and white , isn t it ? isn t grey?
May be we have to do things we "do not like" to apreciate those we like and also on the other way!
And a kid, he needs to do things "he does not like" and "like" as in the life we can not only do what we want.

Yep, but many tend to er to far in one direction.

The thing that is difficult for me is, I have many things I’m passionate about but none that I’m obsessed about.
That’s why I spread myself too thin because different flavours strike my fancy at different times, so I never exactly carve a niche for myself in a chosen field
But I think it’s difficult for me to change
These days I write about desperately different topics on my blog, hoping to clear my physical clutter before I sieve out 1-2 areas to fire cannonballs at
