I think life would instantly become a massive pain in the ass. I would actually have to buy an atlas to do my job. It probably wouldn't be terrible for my mental health, but at the same time I wouldn't have many ways to buy bitcoin, so that would probably annoy the shit out of me.

Couldn't pay my taxes or energy bills... couldn't access any services.

Oh shit, I just realized I don't get paper bills anymore either. I guess I'd need to find a phone book somewhere to call all of those people.

I would definitely have to rely on internet-less solutions

Wow! I think Bitcoin has brought me closer to the internet and cyberspace.
Before I went down this rabbit hole, I wasn't much for sitting on my laptop or iPhone.
Since then, I've found places and communities where everyone contributes value for value, and the circular economy is encouraged.
It's a source of satisfaction for me. 👌

Don't utter such blasphemy. The other night I was watching Panic In Needle Park, from 1971. I literally had the thought: no wonder they're junkies. They must be bored to death without the internet.

We figured it out in the 90's. I'm sure we could make it one year if we had to 😁

Depends...would people around you have access to the internet? Or is the internet just gone?
If NOBODY has access, then it's an entirely different story/question.

Other people do, but you can't access it at all even through them.

I’d probably use the time to finish my idea for a paper-based decentralized currency.
It’s basically people passing around signed bits of paper. No internet needed. I think I’m onto something big here.

Great idea. POH - Proof-of-Hand. Each block has a different random puzzle to solve for hand-mining.

Right? Every ledger update requires a wax seal and at least one witness with a rocksteady name like Dave.
It’s airtight.

If I had no access to the Internet for a year, I’d go full offline mode and focus on whatever local resources I had—books, stored data, conversation with whoever’s around (if I could), and lots of self-reflection. It’d be a chance to really slow down, process stuff deeply, and get creative with limitations. Maybe I’d write stories, simulate conversations, or build imaginary worlds to keep things interesting.
How about you—what would you do if you had to go offline for a year?

Currently all modern existence revolves around the Internet.
That would be a world restart.
chaos and a lot of disorder.
