Traveling through airports more and more they are tricking people into opting into their photo collection scheme. Wothout stating who is the third party operator/data collector or providing written waivers, etc. I watch them telling people to just stand in front of the camera and they do. LIKE LEMMINGS! When I tell TSA no photo thank you, they take a harsh tone and tell me I should tell them when I walk up. I'm like, you mean before you try to trick me. Now they give my ID a harder look. And I get a crotch pat down every time I fly. I say, lemme guess you want to scan my crotch. TSA guy says how did you know? I say it happens every flight and I'm not taking your pictures. They just rush me through at this point.
Guess they don't want others hearing me exerting my rights.
i likewise opt out of the photo-taking and whole-body irradiation every time. next time i shall announce loudly "photo opt out" as i am stepping up, for clarity and demonstration, before they ask.
interestingly, the last pat-down happened without the officer's explanation of how he will pat me down... usually they ask "have you ever had the pat down" and explain how it works regardless of the "yes/no" answer.
i usually have the bag frisked also! last time, both carry-on items were searched - they looked thru a few books and a deck of cards. i show up to the airport with plenty of time to spare, and try to have a fun attitude about it. i have looked into the TSA pre-check, and will have the wife test it first.

Seems like they want to give you trouble for exerting your rights. Time to consider if you really need to travel by air?

i have met a bitcoiner who takes a few-hour long detour when driving thru some interstate lines, because he wud otherwise pass thru an unofficial checkpoint where the guy in a uniform waves the cars thru without stopping them.

I also opt out every time
Free crotch action!

Do they treat you with slightly less disrespect when you decline?

They’re always surprised. Definitely give my ID a close look

Is there a way I can check if I've had my picture taken by these before? I haven't flown in some years and can't remember if this happened to me.
reply
I don't know. This is why I'm not letting them take it to start. Now if they are using hidden cameras throughout - and I am sure they are - that's is another thing. I'm not standing there letting them get up close scans.
